The Month of the Holy Rosary and Mission

The Month of October is observed as the Month of the Holy Rosary and Missions. How beautiful it is to discover this providential similarity.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7th, which commemorates the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto, is highly considered as a participation in the evangelising mission of the church. And according to the catechesis of Pope Francis, there is no mission without the Rosary, because mission is also and foremost a prayerful action.

With our rosaries, we are expected to enter into a month-long devotion in October, praying not only for our own personal intentions and needs, and for peace in the world, but also for the evangelising mission of the church and for missionaries.

We might not be able to give to the mission by going, but we can go to the mission by giving. Giving not only in terms of our financial and material support for the missions and for missionaries, but rather in terms of our spiritual support of “prayer”.

As we passionately hold on to our rosaries in this month of October, let us be intentional in praying for all the works of evangelisation within and outside the walls of the church. At every bead or decade of the rosary, let us remember all evangelizers and missionaries especially those facing all forms of humanly orchestrated challenges.

May our Lady of the Holy Rosary, the first missionary who took Jesus to Elizabeth during the visitation, intercede for us all, Amen!

May Our Lady of the Rosary, the Patron Saint of Canada, through her intercession make us carriers of the good news of Christ her Son, Amen!

Le mois du Saint Rosaire et des missions

Le mois d'octobre est célébré comme le mois du Saint Rosaire et des missions. Quelle belle coïncidence providentielle!

La fête de Notre-Dame du Rosaire, le 7 octobre, qui commémore la victoire chrétienne à la bataille de Lépante, est considérée comme une participation à la mission évangélisatrice de l'Église. Et selon la catéchèse du pape François, il n'y a pas de mission sans le Rosaire, car la mission est aussi et avant tout une action de prière.

Avec nos chapelets, nous sommes appelés à entrer dans un mois de dévotion en octobre, en priant non seulement pour nos intentions et nos besoins personnels, et pour la paix dans le monde, mais aussi pour la mission évangélisatrice de l'Église et pour les missionnaires.

Nous ne pouvons peut-être pas contribuer à la mission en nous y rendant, mais nous pouvons nous rendre à la mission en donnant. Donner non seulement en termes de soutien financier et matériel aux missions et aux missionnaires, mais aussi en termes de soutien spirituel par la « prière ».

Alors que nous tenons passionnément nos chapelets en ce mois d'octobre, prions avec ferveur pour toutes les œuvres d'évangélisation à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur des murs de l'Église. À chaque grain ou dizaine du chapelet, souvenons-nous de tous les évangélisateurs et missionnaires, en particulier ceux qui sont confrontés à toutes sortes de défis orchestrés par les hommes.

Que Notre-Dame du Saint Rosaire, première missionnaire qui a conduit Jésus chez Élisabeth lors de la Visitation, intercède pour nous tous, Amen!

Que Notre-Dame du Rosaire, patronne du Canada, par son intercession, fasse de nous les porteurs de la bonne nouvelle de son Fils Jésus-Christ, Amen!
