Day of Prayer for Humanity - Journée de la prière pour l'humanité

Dear fellow believers and brothers and sisters in humanity,

At the moment, our world is facing a great danger that threatens the lives of millions of people around the world due to the growing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While we reaffirm the role of medicine and scientific research in fighting this pandemic, we should not forget to seek refuge in God as we face this severe crisis. Therefore we call upon all peoples around the world to pray according to each one's respective religious convictions, to observe a fast and to do good deeds in an effort to end this pandemic. May each of us, wherever we are, and according to the teachings of our own respective faith traditions and philosophies, seek divine help to rescue ourselves and the entire world from this adversity, to inspire scientists to find a cure for the virus and to save the whole world from the health, economic and human repercussions of this serious pandemic.

As part of its efforts to realize the objectives of the Document on Human Fraternity, the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity proposes Thursday, 14 May 2020 as a day of prayer, fasting and works of charity for the good of all humanity. In this regard, the committee invites all religious leaders and peoples around the world to respond to this call together: to beseech God, the Almighty to safeguard the entire world, to help us overcome this pandemic, to secure security, stability, health and prosperity so that once this pandemic-crisis is over, our world may become a better place for humanity and for human fraternity than ever before.

Chers amis croyants et chers frères et soeurs en humanité,

Notre monde est actuellement confronté à un grand danger qui menace partout la vie de millions de personnes en raison de la propagation croissante de la pandémie de coronavirus (COVID-19). Si nous réaffirmons le rôle de la médecine et de la recherche scientifique dans la lutte contre cette pandémie, nous ne devons pas oublier de chercher refuge en Dieu alors que nous faisons face à cette grave crise. C'est pourquoi nous appelons tous les peuples à prier selon leurs convictions religieuses respectives, à observer la jeûne et à réaliser de bonnes actions pour contribuer à la fin de cette pandémie. Puisse chacun de nous, où que nous soyons, et selon les enseignements de nos traditions et philosophies religieuses respectives, rechercher le secours divin pour soutenir le monde entier dans cette adversité afin d'inspirer les scientifiques à trouver un remède contre le virus et afin d'épargner les hommes et les femmes des crises sanitaires, économiques et humaines.

Dans le cadre des efforts pour réaffirmer les voeux du Document sur la Fraternité Humaine, le Haut Comité pour la Fraternité Humaine propose, le jeudi 14 mai 2020, une journée de prière, de jeûne et d'oeuvres de charité pour le bien de toute l'humanité. À cet égard, le Comité invite tous les chefs religieux et tous les peuples de la terre à répondre ensemble à cette invitation : implorer Dieu le Tout Puissant de préserver le monde, de nous aider à surmonter cette pandémie, de restaurer la sécurité, la stabilité, la santé et la prospérité afin qu'une fois cette pandémie terminée l'humanité sache reconnaître la place plus grande qui revient à la fraternité humaine.
